Really enjoyed this quote from Coach Rick Carlisle about commitment to defense, not celebrating a win when you're 3-16 and what type of guys will be playing on this team: "Defense in today's NBA has to be coached hard. Has to be coached hard by the Head Coach, the...

Asked Skylar Diggins about Seattle’s mentality/inability to close out games ahead of the playoffs: “I promise you, I swear I'm not even being facetious. If we had these answers to these questions, you know what I'm saying? This game is tough. It's hard to win in this league. It's hard to win in this league. And obviously, yes, we're disappointed with where we are, that we're in this predicament. But Nneka has said it in the past too. It's not going to be a woe is me. Games are still going to be played. You know, we still have to come out and compete. And most importantly, you know, we have to be professional. And you know, I lacked professionalism in that last press conference too. I want to apologize to the room. Apologize to Nneka. She always comes out here, handles herself exceptionally, and I handle myself poor. And you know, I got to be a better leader when it's hard and it's hard to be a leader. But I owe you that apology in front of everybody in the room. So I just wanted to say that before we left. But yeah, obviously it's tough. We're pissed. Yeah, that's what you guys want to hear? You want to see it. This is what it is when you're passionate. We do everything passionately, and that's what it is. We don't want to fucking be in this predicament. But here we are. So we're going to continue to show up and be pros every day, be leaders by example, how we come in and prepare and come out and get ready to compete, and that's all we can do. And if we don't do that, then we don't deserve to be in the playoffs.” @OffTheRecordW | #WNBA

“What did you think of Lando being booed at race because people and I've seen it online as well say he doesn't deserve the title because McLaren favored him over his teammate. Do you think that's total nonsense?” Jacques Villeneuve: “That's a little bit ridiculous. When there was some booing in some races, that was embarrassing. You should never boo a driver that's clean, doesn't do anything dirty, on track is respectful, and on top of it is super fast. What's wrong with people? That was embarrassing. And, had it been that Piastri was a second a lap faster than him and somehow Lando was winning because a lot of things were happening, his car breaking down every time, then you could start thinking, okay, that's really not cool. That's not fair. But that wasn't the case. And in the second half, Norris has been faster right at the beginning as well, last year as well. So there's this whole middle of the season where Piastri was driving a lot better than Norris and was getting the points. Norris had an engine blowing up, not Piastri. And so those fans, they don't look at that either. You have to look at the whole picture, at the whole season. And suddenly if your favorite is starting to go backwards, you just got to bite the bullet and accept it. Your favorite is just going backwards. That doesn't mean that the other one is treated better or the other one is undeserving just because the one you're a fan of is not winning right now. That’s really wrong. If you're a fan of the sport, then you have to be a fan of the sport and understand when your driver is maybe not cutting it at this point in time, even though he was before and he will in the future again. It's all a question of timing. But that's the price we have to pay now with social media and how big F1 has become. It's very passionate. The people are passionate and once, you know, fans come from fanatism, you stop thinking, when you get in that mindset and it happens to all of us. You want something so much that you get attached and you cannot - it's hard to start seeing reality. So you will try to mold the reality to your thought process and if your champion is not winning then it cannot be his fault. It has to be something from the outside. It has to be the team destroying his chance or not favoring and so on and so on and so on. But there's nothing concrete behind those comments. It's pure fandom and it'll always be like this. And ultimately it's not a bad thing. You know drivers at that - sportsman at that level have to grow a thick skin. If not, you don't deserve to be there. You just have to have a thick skin because they're all very happy to get the compliments. They love it when it's just positive, but it gets balanced out with negatives and you need to be able to take and accept the negatives as well. It goes both ways. You cannot have the good. You just have to be a thick skin and know that it's part and parcels of what's going on. And in one month, it will be forgotten and maybe everything will change and it be the other driver that suddenly will be criticized and so on. So, it's just that's just the way it is.”

Watch the full extraordinary war of words between Fabian Hürzeler vs. Mikel Arteta after Arsenal beat Brighton 1-0. 🧂 Hürzeler: “There are different kinds of winning. So if they win the Premier League, no one will ask how they win the Premier League. I think you can really feel that. They do everything now to win this game and in the end it's about the rules. “So if the Premier League is the referee's decision, then it's difficult. They [Arsenal] make their own rules. At the moment, I have the feeling they are doing their own rules no matter how they are playing. So that's why I think it's difficult to judge that. “Overall, like I said, I will never be that kind of manager who tries to win in that way. I want to do well as players. I want my players to keep improving and keep playing football on the pitch. “In the end, of course, every team will manage and waste time but I think there has to be a limit and the limit has to be set by the Premier League. The limit has to be set by the referees. At the moment, they just can do what they want. “We will get the statistics for that. I made my point before the game and I stick to it and everyone else can judge it on his own. I'm not sure if I would ask now, everyone here in the room. Did he really enjoy this football game? “I'm sure maybe one raises his arm because he's a big Arsenal fan. But beside that, no chance. So that's why, again, it's just a repetition. We waste too much time about talking about Arsenal and their game.” Arteta responded: “What a surprise…” “Just go back for the previous games and you will find a lot of comments like this always. “I love my players, that's the highlight. I love my players, we love our players and I love the way we compete.“

“You're not entitled to get what you want. I love you. You're entitled to earn what you're willing to go work for. And that's true in our families, in our parenting, in our marriage, in our companies, in society. If we want it, go earn it. If that's positivity, have positivity. I think and I am a positive person. I am jacked. I am excited. Obviously, you can feel my energy through technology here, I hope. Frankly, think positive people just need to get a lot stronger. I really do. I mean, I don't want to call them weak because people hear that differently but it kind of is. Look, if you want that positivity to stick, you’ve got to get tougher. Not sacrifice your love and your care and your empathy, but you got to get tough. And then we have to figure out how to love the people who are cynical because I don't think there's a ton of bad people in the world and I don't think there's a ton of bad people on teams. But I do think there are people who've been burned out. I do think there are people who have been through things in their lives. They've been through things in their company. They're experiencing stuff somewhere else. For whatever reason, they just kind of got run down and cynical and negative, or whatever. Or they're just wired a little different than we are. And I don't to hate on those people. I want to win those people. They don't have to be like me. They don't have to have my energy. But I want those people on my team. I want to love those people. And if eventually they choose that they don't believe in the same things that I believe in, I want to make it really clear and obvious that they don't want to be on this team because we're not about that. You know what I'm saying? I want it to be very easy, obvious, that, ‘Hey I should not be on this team. Because this team is full of very positive people who have great energy and talk to people, not about them.’ And we solve problems. We don't complain. We don't get defensive. We're real. I recognize I'm imperfect and I'm vulnerable to show you that about me. I want to be on that kind of a team. And if there's somebody who doesn’t believe in that stuff, I want to make it really easy for them to say, ‘Look, I don't want to be on this team. I don't wanna live like you guys live. I don't want do what you guys do.’ And then I really hope that that person leaves us and goes and joins our competitor.”

🚨 SCOTT JENNINGS TRUTH NUKES CNN: "The data is clear and our eyes and ears don’t lie: Democrats, sadly, HATE America — Republicans love it. Trump is right to lean into his patriotism for America 250!" 🇺🇸 "We have a patriotism gap in this country. Republicans love this country. They're patriotic about this country and Democrats aren't. They just aren't!" "They're not proud to be Americans and therefore they're not interested in celebrating America's 250th birthday and it only gets all about Donald Trump." "This has been a steady downward trend for the last 25 years and it's sad. But we've got two parties in this country. One loves it and one appears to be hating it more and more by the year and I think that is a sad thing." "We live in the greatest country in the world. The president proclaims that message all the time and that's something that ought to unify all Americans, but Democrats just can't seem to get behind it!" Q: Scott, isn't the president proclaiming his face all the time? JENNINGS: "I would encourage you to listen to some of the interviews that have been given by the Democrat candidates who have recently won primaries and I would encourage you to read the polling that's come out just this week." "In the last few days from the Gallup Organization about the patriotism gap that exists. I'm sorry to tell you, Republicans love this country and they always love it no matter who's in charge. And look, yes, Donald Trump has put his picture on things." "I hate to break the news. He's a president United States and he's going to be part of things going on with our government!" "And our government should be doing things to celebrate the country's 250th birthday and he's the president and he's going to be part of it."

THE MOST IMPORTANT Q&A OF MEDIA DAY. Mariana: You came from a very solid weekend on top of everything, but at the same time, it seems that you don't feel that the team is listening to you. Am I right? And how do you balance that? Lewis: I feel like we're going in the right direction. Rome wasn't built in one day, so it takes time to build. For me, coming into the team, I wanted to be respectful of the way they've done things in the past and just to really observe and see where our strengths and where our weaknesses are and to highlight where our weaknesses are and areas that we need to work on. But I do feel that they've been responding. I think you're starting to see, hopefully, some of the impact of the work that we're doing in the background and also into next year's car. This is a car that I've had nothing to do with in terms of developing this car over the years. Hopefully, from next year, my input goes into that car, and that will be a car that I've hopefully been a part of or will have been a part of developing. But I think we've got a really great rapport. I think we're really progressing, particularly since the summer break. I think things have started to get better, and it's all just about building trust and communication. Also, I'm coming into a team that English is not the first language, and I don't speak Italian, so it's finding a common ground. And the fact is we all want to win. We're all here to achieve the same thing, and we've got to just keep pushing. So that's why I'm trying to keep everyone motivated on difficult weekends, trying to keep everyone lifted up. But there have been many, many things we've changed this year that I suggested that they hadn't done in the past, and so they have been listening. It doesn't change straight away, just like that. It takes time to build. And as engineers, they really need proof. They need numbers. That's what they work on. So you have to sometimes push to get certain changes to be made, and then when you change it and then it works, you're like, okay. Mariana: That's what I was talking about.. Lewis: Yeah! - F1 2025 Mexico -
