Really interesting look into the differences of mocap across games and differences through generations. Plus, this doubles as a good reference! Source: Unknown (we'd love to know!) #agorastudio #framebyframe #animation #animator #reference #resource #mocap #gamedev

Common games one is just awesome. Filled with personality and just short enough that they don't feel overly tedious like next gen ones.

I don't think there was any mocap in the "early games" she's imitating here.

The "common" vs "next gen" is not related to technique or a improvement in acting over generations, it's just different style (cartoonish in the case of the "common" vs more realistic in the "next gen") That being said IMO stylized is more appealing and translate actions better

I too think that next gen games animations are bloated and too long

Reject Next-Gen Games, Return to Common Games.

Cringe as fuck. "Common Games" is what is called expressive, it's needed in stuff like games and backgrounds of movies/shows. The "Next-gen Games" are realistic, but lack personality and visual interest, it's TERRIBLE for games and background shots. Like, actually bad.
