@jean_twenge I’d be willing to bet that many of the differences are deeply tied to economic inequalities.

@jean_twenge I’ve said for years now that Millennials and Gen Z generations don’t become adults until they hit 30 for the exact reasons your guest explains: education, work exp, driving, and moving out of their family homes happens much later than my (GenX) and my parents (Boomers).

@jean_twenge She's right. I couldn't wait to get my license and a job at 16. Being a latch key kid, I was a lot more independent. Unfortunately, my generation has raised kids who are to dependent on their helicopter parents, can't take criticism at work and need participation trophies.

@jean_twenge I wonder if it has something to do with people having less money this generation, plus more ways to get entertainment online. For Gen X, if you didn't drive, you missed out on a lot of things.

@jean_twenge ...is this study limited to certain countires/regions? Bc that would be unsurprising. (Not throwing shade, just very aware that most studies are US-only or western white-only-focused)

@jean_twenge Boomers got married earlier than any generation because they were sick of hooking up in the back of cars. The average age was 19 for women and 21 for men. They were babies having babies and turned out Gen Z who literally don’t give a shit. 🤓

@jean_twenge I like that you bring on people you don't necessarily agree with and fight your own cognitive biases

@jean_twenge This is so interesting because we often talk about how children are growing up so fast nowadays, not recognizing the slow down of "growing up" or the full on resistance to it

@jean_twenge There were many late genx & early millennials that did this same thing and we were attacked & called defective and deficient. I know from experience.
