Rebecca De Mornay on what makes her character in "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" (1992) memorable: "I was scared out of my mind by some scenes in "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" (1992). I was deeply disturbed by the character I was portraying. There is a lack of great roles for women, and this is definitely a great role. I really went out on a limb with this film. But after I read the script, I was haunted by it. I intuitively felt that I could make a real contribution to the film, that I could deepen this character with humanity. After all, a villain is really only interesting when three-dimensional, and it's rare you play a villain who comes with some inbuilt sense of sympathy."
