Rick Rubin tells Andrew Huberman how he deals with creative or writer’s block. He treats his work like a diary entry (and doesn’t worry about internal or external judgment): ➡️ “What's the cause of the block? The block is usually something that's either personal ("I'm not good enough") or it can be a confidence issue ("I don't have anything to say") or it could be...thinking about someone else ("nobody's going to like what I make"). Do you know what I'm saying? So, it's either fear of self-judgment or external judgment. If you're making something with a freedom of "this is something I'm making for myself for now", that is all [you have to do]. It is a diary entry. Everything I make is a diary entry. The beauty of a diary entry is that I can write my diary entry and you can't tell me that my diary entry wasn't good enough. Or that [the diary entry] is not what I experienced. Of course it's what I experienced: I'm writing a personal diary for myself and no one else can judge if it is my experience of my life. Everything we make can be that: a personal reflection of who we are in that moment of time. It doesn't have to be the greatest you could ever do. It doesn't have to have any expectation that it's going to change the world. It doesn't have to sell a certain number of copies for any reason. It doesn't have any of those things at all. It is "I'm making this thing for me and I want to do it to the best of my ability and to where I feel good about it". [The work] is honest of where I'm at and if you're living in this world of just being honest to where you're at, there's nothing blocking you. There are no blocks. The blocks are all based on dealing with a different force or a different perception that is made up.” ⬅️

💬 minghao i want to watch you ski 🎱 how do i put it.. these past few years i feel like i cherish my life more. like previously, those bungee jumping, parachuting/skydiving, i wanted to try them. but really as i grow older, for adventurous things, things that are life-threatening, gradually i will try not to do them. my work intensity is already so demanding. although i'm playful and like these kinds of challenging things, things that push the limits.. i feel like no matter what i do, what if i injure myself? and like with concerts, comebacks, and some schedules, i've already made my body so weak, and if i continue to do these extreme things, i'm afraid just suddenly.. right? maybe i might be okay but accidents, you'll never know where they'll come from. [giggles] so really, i feel that if you're still young and have dreams and have the things you want to do, at this moment, you have to do it. because when i was young, although i don't feel like i'm getting old nor feel like my age is too advanced, my mentality is still really youthful. the truth is i'm still not old. but for me previously, a few years ago, whenever i wanted to do something, i'd definitely do it, so as of now i don't have anything that i particularly regret. never feel like 'in the future/later when i'm so on and so forth then i'll do it', at this moment you want to do it, just go and do it. you want to meet anyone, you have to go and meet them. want to do anything, you have to go and do it.

🐹 2nd track DREAMER, as for DREAMER, I've actually gave my thoughts on the sequence of the tracks. And I've asked if it's ok for me to put it in this sequence, and it ended up being the way I want it to be. Hertz is like a punch in your face and DREAMER is like 'ohhh~' and then MOMENTUM is like 'ughahhhhhhhhh! Let's go!!' This is the sequence I want it to be. I hope that you can focus on the lyrics and mood for DREAMER. I think everyone has dreams, it's just when you'll make a move to achieve it. All of you have dreams when you were young right? Like 'what should I be when I grow up' or something like 'I want to eat this tomorrow' all these can be dreams too right? Those are the words I want to delivery to people who have dreams. Myself Moonbyul, sense of accomplishment is actually my drive to move. What if I'm actually not a bright person? Eventhough I laugh and cry alot infront of all of you, just like the lyrics at the beginning of the song, there are times where I look in the mirror and feel puzzled, like 'what should I do?'. I'm a person with these kind of thoughts as well. And there are times where I can't even take care of myself when life get busy. There are times where I couldn't take care of the people around me as well, it's nothing much but there are times where I'm not a good person. But that's just who I am, moving forward, that side of mine as well as my dreams, I'll cherish all of them and not forgetting my own identity. Those were my thought behind writing the song DREAMER. Everyone, it's ok if you dreams are not something big, that's why I've said that little things are important, those little things in life allows you to appreciate happiness. Big happiness doesn't mean that it'll last long, it's the accumulation of little things that builds happiness. #우리의_헤르츠_문별 #HertzOutNow #REV #MOONBYUL #문별
