The video, which is being widely shared with captions suggesting an ongoing attack in Makarfi near Zaria, shows scenes of heavy gunfire accompanied by a voice-over describing troops repelling armed attackers. However, a careful review of the footage and audio has confirmed that the voice narration in the video was lifted from a previous military engagement involving troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the Timbuktu Triangle in Borno State, where soldiers were repelling an attack by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in January 2026. Recently, there has been concern over a growing trend in which individuals deliberately recycle old combat footage or unrelated security incidents to fabricate fresh attacks, particularly on social media platforms where such content spreads rapidly. Zagazola noted that the audio commentary does not correspond with any current security situation in Makarfi, and the material has been deliberately recycled and repackaged to create panic among residents. This is a classic case of disinformation where old operational clips are taken out of context and falsely presented as a fresh attack. Such deliberate manipulation of security-related content is dangerous, as it spreads fear, misleads the public, and can undermine ongoing security operations. All missiles and drones were intercepted or failed to reach targeted areas. 🚫 THIRD CLAIM: Iranian state media is reporting that a commercial oil tanker, M/T Nora, has broken through the U.S. blockade. ✅ FACT: The commercial vessel has not broken through America’s steel wall blockade. UPDATE FROM THE SAPS: AN ADDITIONAL 340 ILLEGAL MINERS RESURFACE IN ORKNEY The VALA UMGODI task teams led by the SAPS and SANDF in North West are intensifying their operations and ensuring that illegal mining activities and operations are dealt a blow. From last night, an additional 340 illegal miners have resurfaced have been placed under arrest. As of 12:00 (midday) on Sunday, 03 November 2024, at least 565 illegal miners workers have resurfaced. The Acting National Commissioner of the SAPS, Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya has commended the teams on the ground and encouraged them not to back down and ensure that the rule of law is restored. Earlier… 225 ILLEGAL MINERS RESURFACE AS A RESULT OF PRESSURE EXERTED BY VALA UMGODI TEAMS IN NORTH WEST — ALL 225 ARRESTED North West, 02 November 2024; The Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya has commended the Vala Umgodi task teams in the North West province for stamping the authority of the state. This is as 225 illegal miners resurfaced from underground in Orkney as a result of starvation and dehydration. These 225 illegal miners are part of others believed to be hundreds if not a thousand illegal miners who are stuck underground with no food, water and necessities because the Vala Umgodi teams led by the SAPS and SANDF are blocking routes used to deliver food and necessities to these illegal miners. Just earlier this week, SAPS and members of the SANDF blocked communities in and around these abandoned mining shifts in Orkney from delivering food parcels, water and necessities to these illegal miners. This act of stamping the authority of the state eventually forced these illegal miners to resurface. This operation is ongoing and the SAPS and the SANDF are still monitoring these old abandoned mine shafts as more and more illegal miners resurface. Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya says Operation Vala Umgodi is yielding positive results across the country. “We are closely monitoring the situation that is unfolding in the North West province, we are not backing down until all those illegal miners resurface and are arrested . Since its inception in December 2023 to date, more than 13 691 suspects have been arrested in the seven provinces that are hotspots for illegal mining. We have seized R5million in cash and uncut diamonds worth R32 million through Operation Vala Umgodi”, said Lt Gen Sibiya. The majority of those that have been arrested are inclusive of South Africans, Mozambicans, and Basotho nationals. The SAPS will update on other nationalities as and when more illegal miners resurface.

Motorcycles Stolen in Ado-Ekiti Recovered in Owo, Ondo state After Owner Tracks Down One of the Bikes. A motorcycle stolen in Ado Ekiti this morning was recovered in Owo, Ondo State, after the owner tracked it using a built-in location device, leading police to arrest some suspects while also recovering four stolen bikes in the process. According to an eyewitness, the bike belonging to a young man in Ado Ekiti was noticed missing around 6:00 a.m. today from a fenced compound in Falegan area of Ado Ekiti. The owner in turn activated the tracker and traced the motorcycle to Benin Garage in Akure. Tracking the signal further, the device pointed to a residence in Shasha area along Owo Road in Akure by 9:00 a.m. Upon getting the exact location of the stolen bike, The owner immediately reported the location to police, who proceeded to the address with him. At the scene, the police officers detained the landlord and the tenant occupying the room where the tracker indicated while a search of the locked room uncovered four motorcycles, including three with Ekiti registration plates and one with an Ondo plate. Two of the Ekiti bikes were identified as TUN-426QB and TUN-901QB. The third Ekiti plate number has not yet been confirmed. During the search, officers also found a locally made soap in the room. The intended use of the item remains unclear as of the time of filing this report. The arrested suspects were immediately taken into custody for further investigation and interrogation. The incident has renewed calls for motorcycle owners in Ekiti to install location trackers, amid a recent rise in reports of bike and vehicle thefts in the state. The troops responded with exceptional gallantry, engaging the attackers in a fierce firefight and forcing them to withdraw in confusion after inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists and destroying their equipment. Items recovered include AK 47 rifles, magazines loaded with ammunition, Rocket Propelled Gun tubes among others. Surveillance footage further confirmed the evacuation of several dead and wounded terrorists from the battlefield. It would be recalled that Mairari community had only recently been resettled, with over 950 households returning to the area. The attack was also a desperate attempt by the terrorists to instill fear among the residents and disrupt the ongoing resettlement process. However, their objective was thwarted, as no civilian casualties were recorded in the community during the attack.
