Recently, I advocated for Black families whose children were being racially bullied and harassed by white students in Southwick, MA. They called Black students the NWord, wrote racial slurs on bathroom walls, urinated on pictures of Black students, and held an online mock slave auction where bids were placed... on their fellow Black students starting at $2. According to shannon sharpe during his interview with Amanda Seales on Club Shay Shay, white children who do and say these types of racist things aren’t actually racist, they’re just repeating what their racist parents say, but don’t actually know that they’re wrong. I’ve been a kid, have worked with kids and absolutely know that 10 and 12 year olds are intelligient enough to understand racism.

At 12 and 13 years old, I had already had an altercation with white counterparts who thought they could call my sister or myself the N-Word. They found out, as my father related start up one side of the street and work yourself down the other. Those “children” learn from their parents but the learn consequences real quick!

A 12yro may not know the history of racism & how it impacts Black ppl lives BUT they understand at the very least the racial epithets they hurl at Black kids is wrong. Shannon excused EVERYTHING & consistently blamed Amanda for all her experiences by saying, "what did you do". 🤦🏾‍♀️

He works for Disney, did you expect him not to defend them? Shannon is a fraud all the way around and idk how long it will take people to notice.

Shannon definitely needs to be called out and reminded of the deep roots of racism, learned from the cradle to the grave, and its negative impact, especially on our young children.

A five yr/old knows it’s a bad thing to be mean to others. Come on now. These kids got this racist mentality from their parents.

They’re saying it’s learned behavior and that they’re not really understanding (as children) the full in depth understanding that you and I know it to be.

Two things can be true at the same time but they knew and they were taught that it isn’t bad. But it’s still racism and at that age they knew. It’s how white supremacy stays the norm. Their parents were taught it too. Shannon knows this to be the case.
