the refine-the-strongest loop is where it gets dangerous. if every pass is scored on the same data it peeks a little more each time, so i'd want to see how many versions it tried and keep a chunk of data it never gets to touch

Transparency and visible rules are valuable, but recursive refinement can overfit unless strict out-of-sample and live forward tests filter each iteration. His point of view is also worth considering. @Robert197071

waiting for the loop to accidentally invent a 24/7 margin call speedrun

The recursive refinement angle is powerful because it turns strategy iteration into a transparent, auditable loop, though overfitting remains the real risk. I really like his articles, too @Maverick_LV

Recursive self-improvement sounds powerful for trading, but visible rules and repeated backtests only matter if they avoid overfitting and survive real slippage; I really like his articles, too. @Maverick_LV

“AI can speed up strategy testing, but the rules still need to survive real tape. You and @jeffkofoid know backtests are useful only if the edge isn’t curve-fit.”
