Felix Baumgartner performing the Red Bull Stratos space dive, from a height of 127,852 feet (24 miles) down to earth. The jump took around 8:30 minutes, and reached a top speed of an estimated 863 kilometres per hour (536 mph).

Felix Baumgartner jumped from a helium balloon that had ascended to the stratosphere, reaching an altitude of approximately 128,100 feet (about 39 kilometers or 24 miles) above Earth's surface. During his descent, Baumgartner broke several world records, including the highest manned balloon flight, the highest skydive, and the first person to break the sound barrier in freefall, reaching a maximum speed of Mach 1.25, which is about 843.6 mph (1,357.64 km/h) at that altitude.
