PS3 50W? More like 200W, at least for a launch model!

Oops, my bad. That’s a drastic difference.

Just a little correction to the post, the PS3 was even higher wattage. It's up 200W which is a staggering difference compared to the 15 Pro Max at 5W-10W! Thanks @oliemack for the correction; should've doubled checked before posting.

That is truly groundbreaking. The €1400 iPhone of 2025 can beat a €600 console from like 20 years ago with slightly more contrast! They made sth that looked like shit 20 years ago look like shit today, fantastic!

I never thought I'd live to see the day when a full AAA game would have been playable on a phone. It really is crazy to think about. Heck the PSP being able to play PS1 games was mind-blowing for me back in the day.

I still have no idea why they bother with these ports to phones. Candy crush and RE4 or RDR are not the same experiences on mobile. There’s a reason barely anyone bothers to download these

Bruh the time gap is like comparing the snes to the Xbox 360. Of course 15 years makes a big difference. This is the same gap in time.

Now compare Switch 2 @ 9 watts. Far bigger screen and better controls than a crappy phone. Also PS5 uses around 200 watts if you wanna throw that into the mix.

600$ pour la PS3 a sa sortie Vs 1400€~ a sa sortie pour le 15 pro max -maintenant 50€ ta une PS3 , et 800€ un pro max donc bon 5w ou 50w le choix et vite fait

There are mobile games far more demanding that RDR on mobile nowadays. Have been for years. Red ideas being able to run on a modern smartphone is not impressive at all, technically speaking.

Now all that's missing is the GTA 4 port for the new generation PS5 & XBOX X/S

Considering it took 15 years this is not impressing at all, good to see that iPhone can also run modern games like Resident Evil well enough instead, it’s a shame there is no Steam on iPhone or Android

Saw yesterday that it’s offered via Netflix for mobile. Very cool! Although what I’d love to see from Rockstars available on more platforms is GTA4. One of my favourite games in the series.

Wow, amazing that a 1500$ phone can run a 15 year old console game without even being able to reproduce the same graphics. You need a separate gamepad too? Oh, its only 50$ more, totally worth.

It's been 15 years lol, PSP had us playing PS2 equivalent games only a few years after it launched and entire PS1 games that weren't even a decade old.

no nuhuh no. I refuse to imagine red dead redemption on an iPhone. I won't let that enter my brain

Not really that surprising. Super Mario Bros Deluxe came out 14 years after the original NES version, and that played on a gameboy that ran on 2 AA batteries.

No, it is not impressive. Srsly. We are fully backwards. The PS3 came out 2006, while the Super Nintendo came out 1990. THAT was when Tech made big steps in 15-16 years. Now they sell you remasters and over priced GPUs while they slow down your hardware remotely via "updates".

People are already emulating RDR2 on their phones, which to me is way more impressive

PS3 in 2006 is $600 adjusted for inflation is about $900. The iPhone 17pro is $1400. Even though there has been outstanding technical progress, monetarily you are paying way more.

It’s a nice comparison obviously over time hardware gets better and you can run PS3 games at 1080p at 5-20W versus 100-200W on PS3, it’s that cell processor and the older hardware that uses a lot of wattage for below 720p 30FPS. Phones can run RE7, Death Stranding and more. Only a mater of time until GTA V/RDR2 is playable at 900p/1080p on a iPhone 20 Pro Max or something.
