No they don’t. Some but not all of the Church Fathers explicitly state that the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem must be rebuilt. The idea of a rebuilt Temple is primarily associated with certain interpretations of biblical prophecy, particularly in the context of eschatology (end times). Some Church Fathers, like Irenaeus and Hippolytus, discuss a rebuilt Temple in connection with apocalyptic events, often tying it to the rise of the Antichrist, based on passages like 2 Thessalonians 2:4 and Daniel 9:27. For example, Irenaeus in *Against Heresies* (Book V) suggests a future Temple where the Antichrist will set himself up as God. However, other Church Fathers, such as Augustine, Origen, and Jerome, do not emphasize a literal rebuilding of the Temple. Augustine, in *City of God*, leans toward a spiritual interpretation of prophetic texts, viewing the "Temple" as symbolic of the Church or the individual believer. Origen similarly favors allegorical readings, and Jerome, while acknowledging literal interpretations, does not insist on a physical rebuilding. The diversity in their views stems from differing hermeneutical approaches (literal vs. allegorical) and the lack of a unified patristic consensus on eschatological details. Many Fathers focus more on Christ’s fulfillment of the Old Testament than on a future physical Temple. Thus, while some anticipate a rebuilt Temple in an eschatological context, it is not a universal teaching among them.
