Red state or Blue state, the issues are the same. People don’t want oligarchy and tax breaks for billionaires. They do want a living wage, health care as a human right, affordable housing and quality education for all. That’s the struggle we must wage in all 50 states.

Angie Nixon: “We need to tax these ultra wealthy billionaires. Donald Trump gave them all these tax breaks and meanwhile there are people in rural communities in my state who have hospitals that are now closing. These billionaires need to pay what they owe and they are the biggest welfare queens. We have some corporations that in their trainings with their employees train them on how to apply for food stamps and Medicaid, but they don’t wanna pay them a living wage and they don’t pay them a living wage because they get a government kickback, they get tax breaks”

Enough of this Red State / Blue State nonsense. We are one people. And we all deserve a government of the people, by the people, for the people. Not a government of the billionaires, by the billionaires, for the billionaires.

No, the Democrats should not “play dead.” They’ve been playing dead for too long. Now is the time to stand up for the working class, take on corporate greed, and fight for health care as a human right, a living wage, accessible child care, and affordable housing.

We're the wealthiest nation on earth. We don’t need “austerity” or tax breaks for billionaires. We need policies that benefit working families, not just the 1%. NOW is the time to EXPAND health care, INVEST in public education and BUILD low-income and affordable housing.

It was great to visit rural Wisconsin. Urban America or rural America, red state or blue state, Americans understand that health care is a human right, that working families need affordable housing and that we must stop authoritarianism from taking hold.

It’s the first day of open enrollment for health insurance under the ACA. While families struggle to keep coverage, Trump and Republicans are driving up health care costs to give billionaires another tax break. We must extend ACA tax credits and make care affordable for all.

U know, we’ve been told for so long that Indiana’s a deep red state that people think they are all alone if they believe in things like a living wage, affordable housing, & strong public schools. Don’t believe it. We’re here. It can be our year. I’m here for it #HeidiforIndiana

The American people have been clear: they want a higher minimum wage, expanded Social Security, and better health care. Donald Trump just wants to give billionaires another tax break. This November, the choice is clear.

We need fighters in Congress who will take on powerful special interests and pass Medicare for All, lower prescription drug costs, build affordable housing and raise the minimum wage to a living wage. Nate Blouin is that fighter.

Congrats to the legislature for passing a millionaires tax to fund critical investments in education, housing and childcare. Things like more affordable childcare, debt free community college, quality education and more affordable housing are important steps and I look forward to building on them to make Maine the most affordable state in the nation as governor.

It’s expensive to be poor, especially in states like Oklahoma, where politicians pass laws to punish poverty rather than address systemic issues that lead to homelessness. SB 1854 criminalizes homelessness by fining or jailing people for sleeping on public land. If there are no shelter beds available and someone can’t afford a motel to sleep, how can they afford to pay a $50 fine for sleeping outside? It passed the state house 77-18 and now moves to the Governor’s desk. Oklahoma’s poverty rate is among the highest in the nation. At the state’s minimum wage of $7.25, a person must work 92 hours/week to afford a modest two-bedroom apartment. 90% of Oklahomans earning minimum wage are adults. Instead of criminalizing poverty, here are policy proposals the Republican controlled state legislature should pass: - Increase minimum wage - Paid medical leave - Child care tax credit - Affordable and habitable housing - Alternatives to payday loans - Expand Earned Income Tax Credit - State-level child tax credit

The Republican reconciliation bill is a disaster. Instead of slashing Medicaid and throwing 16 million people off of the health care they have, why don’t we do what every other wealthy nation does. GUARANTEE HEALTH CARE FOR ALL AS A HUMAN RIGHT.

Universal health care access. $25 minimum wage for health care workers. $20 minimum wage for fast food workers. Free childcare — and an entirely new grade that saves families $20k+ / year. Free community college. $11 insulin manufactured by the state. Largest state tax rebate in American history. All while growing our economy to become the 4th largest in the WORLD. California defies the punditry of haters all the time. We’re focused on delivering results. And we’re not done yet.

Things are pretty fucked. Trump and the right wing pose an enormous threat to working people and marginalized communities. We desperately need a fighter in the U.S. Congress. That’s why I’m running as an independent antiwar revolutionary socialist. This is not a careerist campaign. Our undying loyalty is to the working class and to the Palestinian people. We’re fighting to end all military aid to the Israeli state and for a permanent arms embargo on Israel. We're also fighting for free healthcare for all funded by taxing the rich, for national rent control, for a national $25/hour minimum wage, and for a massive expansion of publicly owned affordable housing funded by taxing the billionaires and multi-millionaires.

Reporter: Isn’t there concern that this slippery slope to socialism inevitably ends up as full-blown communism? AOC: I mean, no. I think that’s very silly. We can’t even raise the minimum wage. Do they really think communism is going to happen? No. They’re trying to scare people because they don’t want us talking about the fact that we all have a right to health care. So they want to call everything they don’t like communist because if people actually wake up to the fact that their elected officials are screwing them over when they get here, they’re going to realize they deserve better and that health care as a right isn’t crazy. They want to call this stuff communist because they don’t want us to realize that the rest of the developed world has guaranteed health care. They want to call it communist because they don’t want you to know that Germany, Italy, the UK, Canada—everybody else—has it better than us, and we spend the most money for the worst care in the developed world.

Angie Nixon calls billionaires “welfare queens”: These billionaires need to pay what they owe. They are the BIGGEST welfare queens that there are. They’re double-dipping basically, they’re not paying people living wages and they’re getting a tax break for hiring people they won’t pay a living wage.

I will not support this Senate deal, which increases the cost of health care while billionaires continue to get tax breaks. Health care should be affordable and accessible for ALL AMERICANS.

Who doesn't agree with taxing billionaires more? Oh right, the billionaires! They may whine about it (and even try buying elections to stop us), but the movement is growing to tax obscene wealth — and use it to fund child care, health care, and affordable housing. In NYC, that’s the pied-a-terre tax. In Washington, that’s Senator Elizabeth Warren’s 2-cent wealth tax on fortunes over $50 million (and 3-cents over $1 billion).
