During the UPA years (2004–2014) multiple major paper leaks and exam rackets took place — AIIMS entrance 2012, repeated state-level leaks, and the early phase of large-scale scams like Vyapam. No strong central law with strict punishments, special courts, or systemic overhaul was enacted. No permanent solution was delivered. Accountability stayed near zero. Today the same party talks of “reform” while actively using the student protest through the CJP platform for political gain. Congress leaders jumped onto the Jantar Mantar stage, amplified the agitation, and turned a genuine examination-integrity issue into a broader anti-government campaign. The original student demand was diluted with political slogans, selective outrage, and association with elements far removed from education reform. Innocent students became the face and the numbers, while the political operators extracted mileage. At least the present government passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill on 31 July 2026 — introducing tougher penalties, faster investigations and special courts. That is concrete legislative action, not just statements and street politics. Students need a clean examination system, not another political project that exploits their pain, fills the ranks with outsiders, and then moves on once the cameras are gone.
