Reform politicians just did something really strange inside the Welsh Parliament/Senedd. 11 of Reform's 34 MS voted AGAINST their own party. The Senedd was debating Plaid's childcare offer and a Plaid politician added an amendment saying that "the Senedd notes that Reform UK had no commitments on childcare in... its Welsh manifesto" and that "providing access to childcare would reduce child poverty in Wales". A third of Reform's politicians voted for this. Basically they voted in favour of a motion saying they had no plan for childcare. We asked the party why they did this but they wouldn't respond. I strongly suspect that the 11 who voted against their own party either didn't understand the motion or accidentally voted the wrong way...show more

Perhaps the funniest thing about this is that those same MSs who voted the wrong way had a pop at the Tories who voted the same way as they did!

The most likely reason is, because there was no mention of small boats, they weren't interested, so went with the crowd..!!

The Reform group is packed to the rafters of ex Tory staffers who know the Senedd & plenary process like the back of their hand & can assist in issuing the whip. My instinct here is that there is a strange faction brewing. The first hint however was in the vote for PO.

This a good tactic if you know that some of your opponent party are weak on procedure. By proposing an amendment IN DEBATE, the other party does not have time out to group and make a collective decision on what to vote.

I'd like to think the Reform members were voting with the best interests of the children of Cymru at heart ... but probably not it was just a balls up on their behalf sadly.

Interesting. Perhaps it's kind of a healthy sign that parties don't have to neccessarily push any kind of 'group think' for all their members and that each political representatives can follow their conscience and treat each issue on its own merit?

You want to get your facts right! A genuine mistake with the confusing voting screens by ordinary citizens who have never been in politics before ! They will learn quickly as we rely on them to call to account a worrying Plaid now in bed with the Tories !🤔

I say as a non reform voter, you seem obsessed with criticising them whilst giving Plaid Cymru a free ride, it’s becoming tedious. How about holding Plaid to account on their free child policy for which they appear to have no idea about how they will deliver or pay for!
