The real truth is that the social custom of whitewashing is at it's core, kreminist indoctrination. This is sociocultural war - Russia once again seeks to annihilate other peoples, which they do with propaganda. I say call it for what it is - they are acting like russians.

You did the right thing. There's a sort of person who thinks helping means always acting like everything's fine. They're the opposite of whistleblowers and troubleshooters who actually fix things, and they play into the wrong hands.
