I am greatly saddened to hear of the passing of international reggae superstar Cocoa Tea today in Florida after months of hospitalisation. I grew up dancing and singing along to his hits like “She Loves Me Now,” “Lost My Sonia,” “Sweet Sweet Cocoa Tea,” “Israel’s King,” “Rikers Island,” “Holy Mount Zion,” and many more. He was one of the many cornerstones of reggae music who took it to international audiences, including through tours in places like Zimbabwe. Many thanks to this reggae legend for the decades of sweet-sweet reggae music! May his soul rest in peace.
