Namibia will not bend its laws for foreign investors, Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare told parliament, defending the rejection of a proposed satellite internet licence. Dr. Ngurare was responding to opposition leader McHenry Venaani, who questioned the government’s handling of the decision, including the lack of a formal statement, the consistency of the 51% local ownership requirement and the impact on investor confidence. In response, Dr. Ngurare said the government would not create special rules based on the profile of an investor, stressing that all must comply with Namibia’s laws. He warned that making exceptions could set a precedent and undermine national principles. He also dismissed concerns about external pressure, saying Namibia must act in its own interest. Grab Malaysia has apologised following allegations that a female passenger was sexually harassed by an e-hailing driver in Johor. In a comment posted on Instagram, the company said it was “deeply sorry” over the incident and acknowledged the seriousness of the matter. Grab said it was aware of the report and was actively reaching out to the affected passenger to investigate the case and provide appropriate support. “This should never have happened,” the company said, adding that it takes such incidents seriously and will take action in line with its policies.
