👩🏻‍💻 I vibecoded a dashboard to monitor my own personal situation and only lost my mind twice!! This week's column is on the highs and lows of *not* coding with Lovable, Replit + Claude Code. I made a personal dashboard and the app of my dreams. Yes, my dream app is an early-aughts RSS reader that ranks stories based on relevance to my beat. (RIP Google Reader + Digg) No, I will not be sharing it because I am not smart enough to scale. Relatedly, plz do not share feedback on my app. I already have a long list of new features and bug fixes and can not possibly take on more lol (Gift link below)

People with high conscientiousness tend to get better grades in school and earn more money—even when you control for IQ. So if you have two people with the same score on an intelligence test, the person with higher conscientiousness will likely go on to get better grades and have higher earnings. There's also a very small but significant inverse correlation between intelligence and conscientiousness. In other words, the higher you go in intelligence, the lower your conscientiousness score tends to be. It's a very small effect, but it seems to be driven largely by the orderliness aspect of conscientiousness. Some psychologists have suggested there's a compensatory mechanism at work here. Very intelligent people can afford to be less organized because they're able to use their intelligence to compensate for their lack of diligence and focus. Meanwhile, people who are relatively less intelligent are forced to be more orderly to compensate for their lack of intellectual aptitude. Relatedly, men with spouses who score higher on conscientiousness tend to earn more money, even when their own level of conscientiousness is controlled for.

BITCOIN RAILS #43: A HISTORY OF “SPAM” on BITCOIN | with Peter Todd 🔗 YOUTUBE: 🌿 SPOTIFY: “You cannot prevent arbitrary data from being published in Bitcoin transactions. Even at the consensus level…It’s mathematically impossible.” Legendary Bitcoin contributor since 2009 and self-described "weirdo with a fine arts degree," Peter Todd joins me to unpack the endless wars over Bitcoin's "true purpose," his pioneering work putting "spam" on the blockchain, and why he believes attempts to filter transactions are just “silly.” In this episode, we get deep into the history of using Bitcoin for data storage - which goes back, at least, to the development of Namecoin in 2011. Relatedly, we cover the history and long-fought governance battles around OP_RETURN, relay policy, and our community's evolving definitions of "arbitrary data. Suffice it to say, the Filter Wars of 2024/25 are not new... they are simply one battle in a decade+ war we unpack in detail in this context-rich episode of Bitcoin Rails. In more detail, this episode covers: - The development of Open Time Stamps + Bitcoin's use in validating election data and beyond. - OPRETURN battles of the early days... and how its use has evolved over the past decade. - Why Bitcoin Core "should not try to censor transactions" and the "performance art project" (Libre Relay) that shows why. - Bitcoin as a "replicated database" and why blockchains may legitimately be useful outside of sound money. - Why preventing arbitrary data on Bitcoin is "mathematically impossible" ...and trying to stop it is only distracting us from "more important" efforts, like the Great Consensus Cleanup Antoine Poinsot. This episode of Bitcoin Rails is powered by: - Best In Slot (Best in Slot | BRC2.0 🧑‍🍳) — the leading API for Ordinals and BRC-20 data aggregation and indexing. - Spark (Lightspark) — a statechains implementation advancing Bitcoin-powered payments. - Citrea (Citrea | Mainnet Live 🍊🍋) — the leading Bitcoin rollup technology and BitVM alliance contributor. Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 01:19 Bitcoin Early Days 03:44 OpenTimestamps Project 12:22 Governance and Bitcoin Protocol Debates 26:36 The Blockchain Use Case Argument 35:46 Transaction Version Numbers and Standardization 38:30 Preventing Exploits and DDoS Attacks 40:10 Relay Policies and Economic Decisions 42:00 The Taproot Annex and OP_RETURN 45:07 Libre Relay 01:01:18 Future of Bitcoin and Soft Fork Proposals

A $199 aluminum cube turns a Mac Mini into an 8TB 40Gbps editing station. The case slides under the Mini. Four feet. Two handles. One circular vent. Inside: a single M.2 slot. Samsung 990 PRO drops in. Cover screws shut. No tools beyond a screwdriver. Blackmagic reads 2844 MB/s write. 2881 MB/s read. Three USB-A ports at 10Gbps. SD/TF 4.0 card reader on top. Two DisplayPorts pushing 4K60 each. Camera card inserts. Drive mounts as SSD 4T. Footage lands. Timeline plays without stutter. Two monitors. One timeline. The cube sits quiet between keyboard and speaker. Surface temperature stays low enough that a thermal gun barely notices. The Mini stays clean. The storage stays external. The ports stay plentiful.

SKY NEWS-THE WRAP on #HarryAndMeghanUkReturn “We know that Prince Harry is brilliant with people. If you see him in a room with members of the public he is better than many other members of the royal family. They (Harry and Meghan) have got something that they could give to life here in Britain. They could add to society in some way.” Obviously Shehab Khan has not clocked that despite a long time in the royal family Prince William, Prince Andrew, Prince Philip etc are / were not brilliant with members of the public. Harry and Meghan were subjected to the family sponsored media smear campaign because they did the very wrong thing of being better than the heir and his wife and that’s the very thing that increased the security risk causing them to feel they had to leave the Uk in the first place.
