most indians are low iq and lack self awareness bro

When the likes of @ramakrishnannn with broadly shared values emphasise ethnic distinctions, it’s worth asking, where should we draw the line between celebrating cultural identity and creating unnecessary divisions between communities?

@ramakrishnannn Sri Lanka is a settler colonial state that has been engaging in Sinhala settler colonies such as the Gal Oya and Trinco district colonies in the 1950s-60s followed by the Mahaweli programme, all the while engaging in anti-Tamil pogroms. Genocide is the most accurate thing to say

@ramakrishnannn 1/4 People are entitled to have different opinions and perspectives, and that in itself is okay. We don’t all have to agree. It’s also important to distinguish between war crimes and genocide.

@ramakrishnannn 2/4 If the concern is genuinely the welfare and dignity of Sri Lankan Tamils, then that concern should extend to Sri Lankan Tamil refugees who have spent years living in camps and difficult circumstances in India.

@ramakrishnannn 3/4 The more useful question i have in my mind right now: what are we doing today to ensure that Sri Lankan Tamils, including those who remain displaced or living as refugees in India, can live with dignity, security and genuine opportunity for the future?

@ramakrishnannn 4/4 Most people in Sri Lanka Tamil, Sinhala, Muslim and others have lived through a deeply painful past. Repeatedly using that history to inflame ethnic and hostility by those who doesn’t even live here divisions does little for the people who actually have to live together today

@ArunAnnow @ramakrishnannn Akmowledging a terrible deed of people before us is not hate speech.

@ArunAnnow @ramakrishnannn Let’s understand exactly what happened before drawing broader conclusions. People should be held accountable for their individual actions, but it’s also important not to attribute guilt or innocence to an entire community. Acknowledging should not mean assigning collective blame

I didn't know this in such details... Thank you for sharing.
