To clarify: Trump is blatantly fudging the numbers as a strong arm mafioso PR tactic to try and make Powell look bad. The Martin building was a completely separate renovation that was completed in 2021. It was a completely separate project budgeted, designed, and executed separately from the current renovation. This is not “catching Powell” — it is Trump behaving very disingenuously to try and exert political pressure on someone who is supposed to be an independent, politically neutral custodian of our monetary system.
