I considered myself left-of-center at this point in history. When I realized the only people outraged by the 2009 bailouts were republicans and libertarians, and I saw the media actively attacking and smearing them, i was absolutely shocked. My first bite of the red pill.

Since someone (?) deliberately MUTED the mention of "Obama" in this video, I hunted down a longer un-edited version. "President Obama, are you listening!?" Remember: this was one of the first things Obama did, and it was framed as "racist" to oppose the big bank bailouts.

agreed, but alas, the covid lock down and bail out playbook dwarfed them and did far more damage. note that the pattern is the same both times: a republican (bush, trump) sets the ball in motion and crates the programs then a democrat (obama, biden) makes them far, far worse. it's always that pattern. (hoover/FDR etc)

Obama's actions were not mistakes. Every one of them was a premeditated, planned crime, perpetrated on we the people for his personal benefit and for that of his donors, cronies, masters. Say it like it is!

I actually do believe more (but not all) homeowners should've been bailed out or compensated. Gov't spent HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS bailing out the greedy POS's that had a piece of the fraud and lies and NINJA loans and kept their lavish bonuses, but ordinary people got screwed.

You don’t remember that George w bush passed TARP the first bailout. Interesting that you focus on Obama but forget that if started with the GOP.

The people that became the TEA movement were the same that protested the passage of Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 that created TARP. That was the origin.

They weren’t Obama’s “bailouts”, they were Bush’s which Obama wisely continued. The Tea Party was the biggest thorn in Bush’s side and if it were up to those idiots, the country would have burned instead. Santelli is and always has been the biggest blowhard on financial media.

I remember going to a local tea party rally in Evanston IN in 2009. I was so pumped and excited about the prospect of something different. The candidate started by sounding off on Obama then immediately dove into explaining the need for ethanol subsidies.
