There are two separate issues here. Western media absolutely filters what you see, especially on Russia, so people are not getting the full picture. At the same time, this Navalny "MI6 meeting" story comes from an FSB sting operation and Russian state media, with edited footage and zero independent verification. If a politician was really asking foreign intel for 10 to 20 million a year, that would be huge, so where is the full raw video, original audio, and third party forensics? Information war works both ways: one side hides, the other side manufactures or dramatizes, and regular people are stuck in the middle arguing over fragments. Healthy position is not "trust the West" or "trust Moscow", it is "show me primary sources, context, and who benefits from me believing this".

This is what I have been saying for years, the reason the west Demonizes Putin is he seems to sniff out these provocateurs and kills these western assets. IOW Putin is doing his job he was elected to do.
