The only correction I would make to this is the crockpot “real meal” comment….. back then you had a real meal every day (at least we did), there was no such thing as a daily trip to McDonald’s ect. those were a rare occasion or for a birthday party so the kids could play on the playground they had … if you did eat out more times then not it was a family trip to Pizza Hut to hit up their buffet line …. Family meals at the table no cell phones tv turned off until everyone was done eating… damn I miss those days… 80’s ❤️ 💔

I would GIVE ANYTHING to go back to 1985. I was 13 & on top of the world! If you would have told me then what we all know, now ~ I would have been so sad. The country is not the same. The people are not the same. Our culture & environment ARE NOT THE SAME. I miss normal.

I don't know about the Crock-Pot part (mom made plenty of good meals)...but I grew up in the seventies, pressure cookers then. 70's through early 90's I truly believe that was the golden years for children.

I miss the good ol days. We GenXers are tough as nails. We had to call our parents if we needed them because we weren't allowed inside until the street lights came on unless you had a compound fracture or a heat stroke 🤣

57 and there was so much more. Those were the good times. Children listened and were taught values. No guns. Let's get back to that time when things were simple.

My wife and I were talking about that. In those days, if you got hurt it was just an accident. And we got hurt all the time, stepped on nails, fell out of trees, got knocked in the head by wooden swing seats, crashed bicycles, had skinned knees constantly even blood poisoning.

54! We didn’t need cell phones back then. When out playing and your parents needed you home, they simply went out side and would start shouting your name telling you to come home.

summers without supervision, left home at 8am back at sunset, drank water from a water hose, walked 2 miles to the pizza place with 2 quarters to play video games, rode our bikes 5 miles to the beach spent all day fishing and relaxing

Gen X baby, go out and play in the street, don't come back until it's dark. Here's 5 bucks for McDonald's.

Wow. The shortcomings of AI on display. Where does the cord for the telephone in the pay phone run? Why is the station wagon driving backwards with no driver? The TV Guide was a small-format magazine; Sunday papers had half-sheet folded guides, but none of them were single sheets like the “TV Giede” shown here. Not to mention the all misspelled words. Who could forget seeing “The Gonies?” I fought with Grok & ChatGPT for almost an hour today trying to get them to generate an image of a child sitting with their legs sticking out of the leg holes of a shopping cart in the child seat. Grok kept giving me pictures of child car seats in modified carts, while ChatGPT kept insisting it couldn’t give me pictures of children being restrained. HAL 9000 they ain’t.

I remember the 70s & 80s very well… all this and so much more. We had bubblers on every corner, it made drinking from the garden hose rational. Soda shops, candy stores with candy raisins, licorice ropes & staying out until dusk just running around without a care in the world

Remember when microwaves came out.? Ghetto Blasters, chicks with foofy hair and those leg warmers.? Everything we wore was either super tight or just hanging on by a thread - music couldn’t get loud enough and muscle cars were everywhere.. Good times

Running home when the street lights came on. Dogs and cats roaming the neighborhood .walking miles every day. Your street was filled with kids every evening. I'm watching your favorite hockey team every Saturday night. Every kids bicycle was put together with a mishmash of part

It was a great time to be a kid, we grew up with dirt bikes, walking to the lical pool or swimming holes, huge rocket popsicles you know the red white and blue ones. Went home when the street lights came on. No cell phones no computers. I had an awesome child hood!
