Remember this dude? Wayne Ellington, Guard North Carolina 2006-2009 #TarHeels #UNC

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter 2009 Final Four MOP. That jumpshot was straight 🔥

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Yessir you know it man. Showed up when it counted

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Wayne Ellington was a DAWG 🔥 Dropped 19 in the ’09 title game vs MSU & was named NCAA Tournament MOP. Shot lights out in the Final Four (Final Four 3PT% record) while averaging 19.2 PPG the whole tourney. One of the smoothest Tar Heel legends ever 👑 #UNC #TarHeels

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Yessir. Showed up on the big stage baby

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter there was a contingent of guards that came through in the 2000’s that were either silky smooth scorers or explosive slashers and they were all obvious disciples of Kobe Bryant.

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Wayne had that sweet sweet jumper man

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter very smooth. His high school teammate & Duke star, Gerald Henderson, was on the other end of that Kobe archetype. Explosive slasher.

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Yea that dude was an athlete. What a duo in high school

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Unfair

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Ellington was a great college shooting guard. He and Lawson were probably the best guard duo in the nation and it showed as that UNC team steamrolled most of their opponents on their tourney championship run in 2009.

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Hansbrough, Ed Davis, Danny green, Lawson, Ellington was a SAVAGE starting 5

@twitwitcritic @PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Ed Davis was 6 man. Deon Thompson started. Tyler Zeller was also on bench….loaded

@twitwitcritic @PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter So man name I’m losing track

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Wayne once held the Miami Heat record for 3pt in a season. I think Duncan Robinson holds that now. Wayne is one of my favorite Tar Heel players.

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Female

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter We’ve had a good time with UVA. We’ll see if we can make it happen in the future man!

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter I can't believe he joined UNC 20 years ago. Time flies.

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Got to the league about 5 years too early. Would’ve been tough in the Curry spacing era.

@PowderBlue_J @THEUNCFAMILY @chrismithunc @GreatDayTarHeel @TarHeelTimes @CarolinaFanPg @UNCRecruits @JonesAngell @dgilliam12 @OlSargeHunter Shaun Livingston took his spot on that squad. Another Mid Range killer
