A much firmer way to remind people to exercise their right to remain silent. I love it! The cops ARE NOT your friends. They CAN NOT make deals with you. They CAN and WILL use EVERYTHING YOU SAY against you. Speak ONLY to your ATTORNEY and ONLY in PRIVATE.

If you get arrested, the only thing you say to them is lawyer. No matter what they say or ask. The answer is lawyer. Always.

Oh my mum used to tell me this. If you get busted, don’t say anything and I was like “yes, but it makes me look guilty” And she was like “they’re experts at tripping you up, even if you didn’t anything”. I haven’t ever been even talked to by cops but I guess it makes sense.

Generally good advice, but for non-Americans, check the laws for your country. I think us Canadians especially assume we have the same rights as Americans.
