At the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2017, Dolly Parton reunited with her “9 to 5” co-stars, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, to present the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. Before presenting the award, Fonda and Tomlin went on an anti-Trump rant. Dolly, being classy like she always was, did not participate, just smiled, and deflected it with a joke after the other two were done rambling. Rest in peace, Dolly, we miss ya! 💔

Jane Fonda learned something about fame from Dolly Parton that her own father never understood. Jane remembered how her father, Henry Fonda, would literally run away when fans approached him for an autograph. To him, fame seemed like an intrusion. Then Jane spent 10 days traveling with Dolly Parton. And everywhere they went, Dolly showed up looking exactly like the Dolly her fans came to see wig, outfit, everything. She didn’t treat those people like an inconvenience. She genuinely appreciated them. That completely changed Jane’s perspective. Dolly never sat her down and explained the lesson. She just showed her. If people are the reason your career exists, maybe they deserve more than your attention when the cameras are rolling. That’s a pretty powerful lesson from Dolly.

I used to listen to Casey Kasem all the time, and back in 1983, I remember sitting there as he worked his way toward #1. Before he revealed the #1 song, he played snippets of all the songs that had made the list, and I kept thinking it was going to be “Islands in the Stream.” When he finally revealed #1, I was right. It was Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Hearing this song still takes me right back to that moment. ❤️🎶

When it blew up, Jane Fonda was frightened to death & O'Shea thought Fonda was being electrocuted for real. Here's Roger Vadim & Jane Fonda explaining the incident: "Fonda: I had another bad moment the day the Excessive Pleasure Machine blew up. The thing is, when they want to ki!! someone on this planet, they ki!! them with excessive pleasure. What a way to go. Vadim: The script calls for Jane to overload the machine. In other words, she absorbs all the pleasure it produces, and the machine blows up. So we rigged it with flares and smoke bombs and everything Fonda: Milo O'Shea plays the man who runs the machine. Vadim wanted us to look natural, so he didn’t tell us what a big explosion there would be. When the machine blew up, flames and smoke were everywhere, and sparks were running up and down the wires.
