They lost the battle since the next movie starts with the ruins. Rendering that large crowd is expensive, which is why few movies do it. There’s no point in an expensive whole fight scene if the movie ends in a lost fight cliffhanger. How else should it have ended?

Funniest part? Resident Evil turned entire subplots into cutscene bait, then pretended they never happened in the next game. Peak survival horror is surviving the writers room.

It was because most of the actors didn’t come back, so they had to axe the original plan for the last movie and just say that “Wesler betrayed them all”. The ending of that movie franchise was abysmal
