Remember when walking into a fast-food joint felt like you mattered? Back in the day, companies lived by 'the customer is always right'—smiles, your name, extra care, no rush. Fast-forward to now: You pull up to Wendy's drive-thru. Order a simple meal. Crickets. No greeting. 'Large? Got it.' Window... show more

when i am at a fast food drive through, i am there to order food and then be on my way, no need to ask my name, I don't care to chitchat, take my money and give me my food so we could both just get on with our lives.

Worked for Sears. "If we don't service the customer, someone else will" on the wall in our entryway. A new CEO came aboard. We were told in blunt terms that we work for "The Shareholders." After that, speeding downhill is the best I could describe things.

Wow, shows you where that mindset gets you. Sears used to be the go to place for almost everything when I was a kid. Now I think only a handful of stores are still around.

As a child, when mom and I went downtown (Chicago), Sears was the first go-to when we got off the train. They had a tremendous candy counter with freshly roasted & hot skin-on peanuts and mom would always get me a little bag as our first shopping purchase.

@end3of6days9 Oh you just reminded me of the candy counter. I hadn't thought about that in YEARS! Sears, and Kmart, were staple trips in my childhood. Clothing trips with Mom (rarely candy) & Craftsman tools trips with Dad (usually candy.) Kmart had the best popcorn, my dad's first stop there.

@end3of6days9 Love it! Gonna sound strange, but K-Mart deli area would have a pack of 5 or 6 ham sandwiches REALLY CHEAP and although very "plain-Jane" they were a cheap meal I would buy when I got my first apartment and was short of cash. Dinner for a few days cheaply!

Just asking because I’m curious. Why do you care as long as they aren’t rude and your food is to your liking? Personally I don’t care about someone being fake nice or overly chipper, as long as they get my order correct, they aren’t rude, and the food is to my liking. 🤷🏽♂️

Someone should make that dude go say all that that shit for 8 hours a day for $15 an hour

I hate it when places use my name. I have no familiarity with the employees, and I do not want one. I find it extremely rude when they use my first name. I will put in my last name for all name fields to avoid it. Just be efficient, I don’t need pleasantries at all fast food place.

Wendy’s now has AI at the drive-through there’s not even a person. It’s just a AI assistant taking your order and everything comes out on the screen as you say it.

@baker_girlie What happened? This is an easy one. All fast food joints used to be owned by individual operators. Then slowly they began buying additional ones. Eventually they were all bought out by large corporations. Large corporations don’t give a shit about customer service.

I deliver food sometimes. Every single one is terrible to customers. Customer service doesn't exist anymore.

@Loveof1776 Wendy’s and other chains also absolutely treat dine-in customers as secondary to drive thru. It drives me nuts that I can barely get anyone to the counter lest I do something to hurt their drive thru stats.

Don't forget to look in the Wendy's bag: it's wrong, cold and not worth the money

Wendy’s in Florida are all trash. All ignorant Haitians that have no fucking manners.

America is now just a series of parking lots full of goyslop buildings, and people who endlessly argue with each other about which goyslop building makes them want to kill themselves faster with more goyslop.

The customer service might not be great but at least they did have human DNA in their hamburgers.

@wendys we have all had this same experience from Wendy on a regular basis. Lame employees that usually don't get to the order right. Dave would be ashamed of you all !

Haven't been to @Wendys for almost 3 years, same for @BurgerKing and @McDonalds . The only place I go for fast food now days is @culvers .

@AngelMD1103 Because the employees expect the salary or a CEO while providing the work ethic of a comatose person.

Wendy’s in Middleburg Florida must have got the memo, because they are some of the nicest people taking your order! Food is always hot! Great service!

What's worse is going inside. No one even acknowledges you. Order via kiosk, and then if you happen to move within some unknown distance of the counter the mopes act as if you're crashing a funeral.

❤️ Chick Fil-A

@45johnmac Chick-fil-A is so organized and efficient while still being friendly. We need Chick-fil-A to run our freaking country.

Wah wah you self-centered asshole. Get your food and shut up!

I’m ok w how it is - they have screens now to tell I price and so u can see order looks right - u want to feel like u matter? Ur eating a baconator - u don’t lol Snowflake

So you need a bunch of fluff from someone acting like they care? Or do you just want good hot food for a fair price? I don’t go through drive through to make friends.

Wendy’s has been absolute trash lately. Disgusting looking workers and disgusting work stations

Wendy's has an amazing social media team. Unfortunately, their service is atrocious. All of the culture that Dave instilled in the company is gone. Politicians like Gavin are also partly to blame for raising wages out of site.

@steeler4ever79 Jersey Mike's here in Tyler always greets, smiles, thank you....

People struggling don't give a shit about being nice to you.....do you live in a box?

People don’t know how to interact with people. I miss the days without cellphones…

He is so right

I’m not a fastfood fan, but Wendy’s is actually pretty good. And let’s be honest, who goes to a fastfood place with high expectations?

Wendy’s. Burger King. Such potential but leadership needs training from Chick Fil A.

Fuck all that small talk, get your food and go. They might have a better attitude if they could get a living wage. Once they ask for that people act like they’re being unreasonable. Chick-fil-A pays employees more. Fight the Wendy’s corporate office not the guy making $9/hr

They hire incompetent people. Let’s serve a family size bucket of chili with no lid!

Chick Fill A and In and Out Burger cares deeply about their customers and their brand. Both of these restaurants will not hire people that will destroy their brand and make work morale miserable and make the customer experience miserable.
