First up — Stacks. Yes, finally. If you know auto layout in Figma or stacks in Framer, this is our take. With Stacks, you can build anything from buttons that resize with their labels, to complex nested layouts that adapt to container size or content. And that’s just the start.

There’s a lot more to say about Stacks, but for now — have a play around! We’ve got a tutorial doc in Sketch to show you the ropes. Also, if you’re designing for iOS, Apple’s iOS UI Library is ready to roll with Stacks from today. Check it out →

And what would stacks be without a more capable, customizable container? So, we’ve got Frames now! Frames replace Artboards, they’re nestable, stylable (no more background layers!), and of course work great with stacks.

Frames are great for UI work, but what about icons and illustrations? We built a new container for those — Graphics. Graphics have a fixed size and their contents always resize proportionally. Selecting a graphic also gives you a more focused inspector for graphics-related work.

The Command Bar also got a neat upgrade. You can now use it to find and insert Symbols, Text Styles, Layer Styles, Color Variables, Frame and Graphic Templates. There are also tons of new shortcuts, better previews, a redesigned Inspector popover for swapping, and more.

There’s a lot more in this release. A lot. Over 100 improvements and fixes. Here are two of them you might like. First — you can now style text overrides in Symbols using Markdown-like syntax. It’s especially handy for styling subranges.

Here’s one more improvement a lot of you have asked for: you can now decouple alignment and color from Text Styles. There’s a global option for this, or you can set those options for individual styles.
