He is so right. I lived in Singapore for about a year 1987/8. The house we rented ‘came with a maid’. It was an old colonial with a maids quarter off the kitchen. We did not want a live-in, but a young Filipina came every weekday to clean and wash the bed linens. It was weird.

He used to cook niggas all the time😭😭😭

What a truly great man he was 😢

He had to be joking, no? His background was being a cook, then a chef. He didn't build his own stoves or catch his own fish or grow his own potatoes. Probably didn't ever drive his own cab. He embraced the idea of service and it's economics but drew the line at laundry?

So smart, so politically acute and aware, and such a great raconteur! An excellent writer, great nosy host and lover of life’s smallest gifts and largest gaffes.

I can understand why people get cleaners or maids but i know some people who boast about the privilege and have no insight into the irony of their life choices.
