𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗧𝗧 𝗔𝗗𝗔𝗠𝗦 ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Greg Gutfeld delivered one of the most honest, heartfelt remembrances you’ll ever hear — because 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺𝘀 wasn’t just a cartoonist. He was 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 for an entire generation. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Scott Adams passed away from cancer at the age of 68. Most people know him as the creator of 𝗗𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁, one of the most successful cartoons of all time. But that barely scratches the surface. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Greg admitted something most won’t: He didn’t really know Scott through Dilbert. He came to know him around 2015 — when Scott was 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 saying Trump was going to win. Not by polling. Not by ideology. But through 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Scott said Trump wasn’t just going to get the nomination — 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗻. Everyone laughed. Scott didn’t flinch. He paid for it. He lost syndication. Lost papers. Lost publishing. But 𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Greg said his own career didn’t truly change until he ran into Scott Adams. Scott became his 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿. And if you’ve ever heard Greg talk about 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀, 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, or 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 — that came straight from Scott. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Every morning, Greg listened to 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺𝘀 — not a flashy show, not a set — just Scott at home, with his cat, calmly giving people 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸. That’s why it worked. He wasn’t talking at you. He was talking with you. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Greg said something profound: Scott didn’t just comment on public policy — 𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁. There are people in the White House grieving today. People close to Trump who credit Scott with helping them understand their own family. And Scott 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗱 about any of it. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Michael shared how validating it was when Scott told him he was funny and worth following — a rare gift in a world that mostly hands out hate. And then came the lessons Scott left behind. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ One of his most powerful ideas came from his book 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻: A small change in perspective can change your entire life. Your job isn’t to be great at your job — 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲. That single sentence frees people. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Scott also reframed rejection: If you don’t get the job, the date, or the opportunity — 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲. It just wasn’t a good fit. And suddenly the weight disappears. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Then there was his concept of the 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸: You don’t need to be the best at one thing. Be good at several things — and the combination makes you 𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲. That idea alone has launched more careers than most motivational speakers ever will. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Scott believed in 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀. His famous line says it all: 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴. 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ What made Scott rare was this: He never yelled. Never postured. Never personalized attacks. He just presented ideas — 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 — and let people take what they needed. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ He endured being misunderstood. Smeared. Deplatformed. His art taken from him. But 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱. And he never cracked. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Scott did his final show yesterday. He told his caretaker he was going to die that day. And he did — calmly, knowingly, with dignity. Even at the end, he was teaching people 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲… 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗲. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Greg said it best: Scott Adams was 𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 for this era. One day, history will call him a scholar. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣ Rest easy, Scott. Your frameworks remain. Your systems endure. And your influence is everywhere — even where people don’t realize it.

Yes, he taught us how to live and how to die. Thank God he didn’t end it back in June. You can’t forget the smile on his face to the very end.

Thanks for the beautiful B block honoring Scott! I have to admit, it’s the first time I have ever teared up watching Gutfeld… But it was well worth it and a great honor to Scott and what he stood for. And what his life meant to so many of us! Thank you, Greg! 🙏

Scott Adams impressed me with his knowledge of corporate reality. Years ago, he put out a strip where Dilbert complained to Catbert that advertising for a Java programmer with 10 years experience was crazy since it's only been around for 5 years. It was my experience right then.

Greg, you are the reason that I became curious to check out Scott. As a member of your Locals site, it allowed me some access to his site. I watched a few of his pre shows there, which then lead me to the regular show. I have seen what an impact Scott has had in your life. I’ve been a fan since Red Eye. The amount of growth you’ve shown in the past few years is really inspiring. If someone would have told me five years ago that you’d 1) quit drinking 2) become a father 3) join a bible study group, I’d have laughed at them. You are part of Scott’s legacy.
