Remembering Steven. He knew overdose. Concerned neighbors would send me haunting videos and images of Steven overdosed. Harm reduction an epic disaster. My heart aches watching these. I know he’s at peace now. San Fransicko. 🎥 June 29, 2025

![Michael Bay on how he felt when he first saw Steven Spielberg's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981) when he was 15 years old: "Interviewer: My understanding is that Spielberg really was the guy that roped you into directing 'Transformers' (2007). What was the first time that you realized that he was following your career? Bay: When I was 27, I did a whole string of commercials that were pretty famous, the type of commercial where people go to a bar [and say], ”Did you see that commercial?” That ”Got Milk?” stuff, a whole string of funny Nike ones, whatever. So I sent this reel [of my work] around Hollywood. I get this call from my agent. ”Steven wants to see you.” I go, ”Steven who?” ”Steven Spielberg wants to see you.” Okay. I drove down to his office. A true story — I said, ”You know, when I was 15, I worked at Lucasfilm and I filed your Raiders of the Lost Ark storyboards. I saw the entire movie [in storyboard form] and I honestly thought it was going to suck.” [Laughs] And he started laughing. And I said, ”When I went to the Grauman’s Chinese [Theater] with my parents and saw it, I went ‘Oh my God, I’ve got to do this.”’ [Pause] I don’t know, he’s always been nice to me." ![Steven Spielberg explains why he felt resentment and anger while he was working on "Jurassic Park" (1993) & "Schindler's List" (1993) simultaneously: "It was the best draft [Schindler’s List writer Steven Zaillian] had written after [writing] multiple drafts, [So my wife] Kate said, ‘You’re making this movie right now, aren’t you?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, right now!'” However, I was making 'Jurassic Park' right now, That was the problem. [But] I didn’t want to miss the winter. I knew I had to be shooting [Schindler’ List] in January [on location] in Poland, so it came together awfully quickly." By the time Steven Spielberg had assembled his cast and crew — including Liam Neeson, Embeth Davidtz, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Caroline Goodall, all of whom were also present at the reunion panel — he was deep into production on Jurassic Park. "When I finally started shooting…in Poland, I had to go home about two or three times a week and get on a very crude satellite feed to Northern California…to be able to approve T-Rex shots. And it built a tremendous amount of resentment and anger that I had to do this, that I had to actually go from [the emotional weight of Schindler’s List] to dinosaurs chasing jeeps, and all I could express was how angry that made me at the time.
