Tim Curry was one of those actors you never forgot once you saw him. For some of us, he will always be Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. For others, he was the absolutely terrifying Pennywise in IT, the unforgettable Wadsworth in Clue, or Darkness in Legend. And then there was that voice. The Wild Thornberrys. FernGully. Peter Pan & the Pirates. Video games, animation, stage productions and countless characters where you might not have even realized it was Tim Curry until you heard that unmistakable voice. His career stretched across more than five decades, from the stage to film, television and voice acting. He could be hilarious, sinister, completely ridiculous or genuinely terrifying, sometimes all in the same performance. After suffering a major stroke in 2012, Tim faced a very different life, but he never completely disappeared. He continued doing voice work and making appearances, and in 2025 he was there to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the movie that helped make him a legend, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Tim Curry passed away Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 80 years old. There are actors who play great characters. They weren't just watching the movie. They were acting out every scene, singing every song, shouting every line, and turning the entire theater into one unforgettable live performance. I think he's a great guy and good person and I enjoyed my time playing with him. Wish him all the best and he's a great baseball player, one of the best shortstops to ever do it. RIP Tim Curry (1946-2026) Princess Diana was a big fan of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (1975) that she requested to meet Tim Curry. He met the Princess and Prince Charles during the production of "Love for Love". They were the guests of honour. Prince Charles only vaguely recognised Curry as someone he saw "On Television". But the Princess instantly asked him if Curry was in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". He said 'Yes, ma'am' and added that he was sure she wouldn't have seen the movie. She replied with a wicked smile, "oh, yes. I have seen the movie & it quite completed my education." Curry said, "She was a very funny girl, and a very beautiful one and sort of the - a very wicked smile came with that sentence. She was great fun."

[…] we went to independent, which is the talent agency that kit is repped by in the uk, and originally, we had approached other actors. i had kit on my shortlist as people that i wanted in the film, but when i reviewed his work, i thought he might just be a little bit too young for the role. so we actually went and approached a few other actors first, and we had one booked, but he got really sick and—literally two weeks before we were filming—so we went back to independent and they said, ‘who else are you looking at? is there anybody else that we can put on?’ and i had, again, reviewed kit's work in the past, and i said, ‘talk to me about kit. i love him. i think he's a brilliant actor. i think he has just the right look. i think he's a little young.’ and his agent was just really effusive about saying he's the most mature person you'll ever meet. he carries himself as an adult. yes, he's, you know, i think he was 19 at the time. but that will not come through in his effort and his, you know, his capability. and so i had a phone call with kit, and it was very clear that he punched well above his weight in terms of his age. he's wise beyond his years and was extremely talented and thorough, and so, cast him, and that has ended up being a really, really incredible sequence of events because i absolutely loved working with him, and i don't think the film is the film without him. so it's been very fortunate.” 🔗:
