Feel like when you “fall in love with hip hop” is different from when you were introduced to it or gave it a little more attention than the minimum

I feel what he saying it’s always been there. But the first time I REALIZED I am hip hop was when I used to break & I heard Don’t Sweat The Technique, Know The Ledge, & I Ain’t No Joke in a cypher. Felt my frontal lobe develop

Never considered it that way. Real though because some of my earliest memories overall are hearing classic songs for the first time

Nah I disagree, the moment that got me is listening to Watch My Shoes by Lil Wayne the summer of 07. Joint hit different, that was the first rap song I WANTED to learn word for word rather than just hearing it all the time passively

I remember being super young and seeing an interesting and vibrantly colored CD case on the floor in my mom’s bedroom. It was the “Above the Rim” soundtrack. Hip hop been in my life ever since.

That’s cool and all but yeah I fell in love with hip hop tryna memorize the Harlem world album. Mase lyrics were just too cold I had to understand the word play and that opened a whole new world for me.
