Hey! Could you say what type of layer do you use for lighting after the midtone/dark base colors? And how do you manage to get colorful and not washed out results in the lit areas? Thanks! Love your work :)

I use the overlay layer! I find it retains some of the colour from the dark base tones better than any other light mode!
