The production of an EV requires more mining, refining, battery production and power generation over a standard petrol or diesel car. Battery minerals are dug up and processed elsewhere. Air, water, soil and workers take the hit. Across the full chain, EVs cut CO2 by only 20%. But on top of that, batteries degrade. While Queensland Liberal Senator Gerard Rennick told the meeting he rejected the need for a net zero pledge, other conservatives accepted the need for it.” ••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The fact that the Liberal Party MPs have to fly to Canberra to discuss whether or not they have to keep net zero as a policy shows how out of touch they are with their constituents and own members. Over the last 12 months the membership inside the Coalition state divisions have already voted down Net Zero. Given that’s the case why do the MPs have to waste taxpayer dollars flying to Canberra to talk about it. Shouldn’t they listen to their members and drop Net Zero? The fact they don’t shows they ignore the will of the people, and only do what their masters at the big end of town want.
