She also said without a youth unemployment levy or other targeted interventions such as the constituency development fund introduced by former finance minister Iipumbu Shiimi, the current budget offers few tangible solutions to youth unemployment.

She made the remarks during the budget debate in parliament yesterday.

Rent cant be regulated because the owners pay mortagages and taxes. For most houses that are owned for less than 10 years rent is not enough to cover mortgage. Landlord pay in extra. Gvt must service more land that is the solution @Inna_Hengari

1/ MP being short-sighted! High rent prices stem from limited supply, fueled by municipalities land auctions & self-serving deals with developers at the expense of masses. Govt’s narrow view on decentralisation, centralising Executive etc, to Windhoek ignoring the bigger picture!

Just increase the supply Increase the supply ! Increase the supply ! Increase the supply!

When politicians are also property developers why would they enforce this. Never mind how banks will react. A bill was tabled in 2018 and never made it out. This will never happen

No please this shit need regulation. I am not paying 15k/month for a bachelor’s in Klein Windhoek. Fuck y'all.

You can’t regulate rental unless you regulate land prices too. Current house prices are high and are the biggest driver for high rents. Most properties are rent at a loss currently.

@Inna_Hengari You want the rent controlled yet you’re not targeting the exorbitant bond prices changed by banks or the yearly increment on rates and taxes, under the Swapo led COW council rates were just below 1k, now we paying 4-7k.

Zero rate all property sales, zero rate building producst, zero rate rental income, control high land prices= problem solved.

Is that suppose to be work for the Namibian Estate Agency Board or something like that?
