Rep. Dan Meuser on the antisemitic arson attack on Josh Shapiro: "The left has to look in the mirror here ... our hearts go out to the Shapiro family on this, but they gotta tone it down too. Every action Josh Shapiro has taken so far against the president... show more

This is grotesque victim-blaming dressed up with a political deflection. Josh Shapiro and his family were targeted in a hate crime, and Rep. Meuser’s response is to say they had it coming because Shapiro challenged Trump legally? That’s not leadership, it’s cowardice and complicity. When political violence occurs, you condemn the hate, not the victim’s politics. Anything else emboldens extremists. Such a douche!

"The Democratic Party's actions had left many U.S. citizens feeling humiliated. Signs of a Trump victory were proclaimed well before Biden withdrew from the race. The voters had had enough." 📝 @KarinaLMariani

Blaming the victim? How pathetic.

The guy hated Biden. 🙄

What a joke to blame the left, when the nut job who did it voted for Trump. Trump needs to tone down the fascist rhetoric and policies he’s pushing dumbass

Why can't anyone admit there are a ton of antisemitic Trumpers. Way more than antisemitic Dems.

I have not heard anyone from the left say things about Trump that are worse than things people like JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Lyndsey Graham, and other prominent republicans have said...

When elected officials start blaming Jewish public servants for being targets of hate, you’re not fighting antisemitism, you’re fueling it.

It's obviously Shapiro's fault that some mentally ill guy decided to go for a long walk and attempt to kill the governor and his family. Of course. Sigh.

Translation: "Shapiro deserved it." These two mean are disgusting.

Remember when Trump incited an insurrection and there was an assassination attempt on him. And then Republicans blamed it on Democrats?

No different than saying a rape victim was asking for it.

Meuser is a clown

Not a good look for Congressman Dan Meuser to condemn an antisemitic attack and then use "but" right after. Republicans can't help themselves, though. Gov. Josh Shapiro has handled the aftermath perfectly.

It wasn't *the left* attacking. It was an antisemitic and long term mentally ill person not taking their medication. The guy hated Biden, his ex wife and child, the courts, Jewish people, his co-workers at jobs he lost, the state that auctioned his home off

Somehow we need to get to the point where people don't rationalize violence. So far, it doesn't appear we are close to that point.

translation: I am sorry your house was set on fire but it's your fault.

Just like Trump blame the victim

Seeing victim blaming all over X. Dems have to come out with quick-response

What???

Another imbecile in congress.

Bullshit. He is a diagnosed mentally ill man who stopped taking his meds . And you are blaming Governor Shapiro.

These guys are just ASKING for more Luigis

That's BS

These trump ass kissers are pathetic! Not at any time they can see themselves to blame, too❗️🙄

Fuck this SOB

The party led by a rapist says Shapiro was basically asking for it.

Using the attack on Shapiro to quell resistance, essentially warning there's more of that if people speak out against Trump. Just contemptible.

This is on brand for maga. They blame ukraine too. These are all the men who blame women for why their husbands beat them.

I love you but you made me do it.

Falsehood? What falsehood? I bet he didn't specify even one.
