@RepGrothman "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." The law is clear. It says "all persons" not "former slaves".

@RepGrothman The Original Articles of Confederation nor constitutional Amendments 1 thru 12 defined citizenship. Freedom is citizenship, and "BIRTHED" citizenship was 1st applied to children of enslaved parents in 1780 via PA's Gradual Abolition Act.
