That was said to cater to her Black votes she needs to get elected. Most liberal whites play their pro Black” race card when they have a significant number of blacks in their district.

Jones and Pearson basically yelled, pounded the podium, and used megaphones on the floor. Johnson didn’t do any of this. That was also her defense prior to the vote. You can paint it racism or whatever you want but this is why the vote went her way.

I didn’t know who Gloria Johnson was before today. I am proud of her courage.
