Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who has co-sponsored a bipartisan War Powers Resolution, is pushing back on Speaker Johnson’s support for the U.S. strikes on Iran without consulting Congress. Johnson praised the strikes as “necessary, limited, and targeted.” Massie called Johnson's statement "peculiar." “There were no imminent threat[s] to the United States, which was what would authorize that. And I think that's peculiar to hear that from the Speaker of the House,” Massie said, adding, “Congress was on vacation last week when all this was happening…We haven't been briefed. They should've called us all back and, frankly, we should've debated this War Powers Resolution."
