The massive protests at Delaney Hall didn't come out of nowhere — people showed up in solidarity with those detained inside, who are on an ongoing labor and hunger strike to protest inhumane living conditions and demand their release. The New Jersey private detention facility is run by for-profit company GEO Group, which relies on our tax dollars going to fill their cells, then keeps the profits they make for themselves. GEO Group made $254 million in profits last year, a 700% increase from the year before. Delaney Hall alone is expected to generate $60 million in revenue each year.

LaMonica McIver (red clothing) shoving/elbowing her way past a DHS agent to get past the gate and into the property, followed behind by Rep. Rob Menendez & that it also shows Congresswoman McIver screaming in the faces of DHS agents. The members of Congress claim they were assaulted and “roughed up” during the incident, and deny DHS’ characterization that they “stormed” the facility.
