Or maybe just fuck off away from small entrepreneurs? Buying bulk (taxed) goods and “making” £1700 (not profit) selling those goods which results in you paying a level of tax higher than Vinted, eBay, Amazon themselves is nuts. Truly nuts.

I think it’s appalling to implement double taxation….. So that the taxes will go to other countries and government bureaucrats….. ( unnecessary goverment bloat)

UK Summary Capital Gains Tax (CGT) on profits from assets (including investments bought with after-tax income) was introduced in 1965 by the Labour government under Chancellor James Callaghan. Prior to this, capital gains were generally not taxed. • Labour governments have historically expanded or adjusted CGT (e.g., rate changes, simplifications in 2008 under Gordon Brown/Alistair Darling). • Conservative governments have often modified it (e.g., rate reductions, taper relief, or indexation adjustments) but did not originate the core tax on gains from already-taxed money. Corporate dividends: The UK has had mechanisms to address or mitigate double taxation (corporate profits taxed, then dividends to shareholders), with various reforms under both parties. The system isn’t purely “classical” double taxation like the historical US setup.
