Maybe. It was months out of warranty but we'll see if this turns into some sort of recall or known issue as it sounds like tons of ppl have had the exact same problem.

Had the door open button fail on mine. Replaced under warranty. Commissioned using the Tesla One app. Easy fix.

Will Tesla recycle the old one? Seems like they could fix it.

About to do the same at home, though I got the Universal Wall Connector for just a few dollars more through Lowe’s ($600).

I had to replace mine and it’s sooooo easy! I blocked off a hour and it only took 5 minutes.

I usually run mine at 30amps, I just don’t need the full 48, wonder if it will last longer that way or if the failure was due to mechanical fatigue.

This is crazy. So if I have wall charger inside in the garage it can last how many years vs someone who puts outside ?

Honestly don't think it has anything to do with being outside but you never know. our nema 14-50 in the garage is still going strong after 7+ years of car charging

Just curious tesla only sells back module or whole module.Just not the top module alone interesting. Want to know if your heating issue is resolved after few weeks.

I’m surprised you can’t replace the handle / cable instead of the whole unit.

We still have our gen 1 HPWC, now 8 years old. This one was capable of 80A although none of the cars can do that anymore. I will replace it one day and finally get to see it in the App but until then, it works. I did have to heat shrink part of the handle.

Adjusted for inflation, $500 in 2021 is ~$611 today. So it's actually cheaper inflation-adjusted.

Mine just went out too and it was only a few months out of warranty. Luckily, I got a new one in February as a backup since my referral points were expiring. Looks very easy to swap out. Good video 👍

Honestly, why do you need a wall connector? I just use a 240 outlet. What's the benefit of paying for a connector?
