Replaying Bayonetta 2 made me realize how criminal it is for this game (alongside 1 and 3) to have only sold over 1 million units with how juicy the gameplay is

That too. I played it on Wii U and was hoping for a Switch port at the time. And guess what? I didn't have to wait that long. And we got a 3rd game which I actually like for personal reasons.

I mean it's a niche genre, action hack and slash games rarely sell more than 1-2 million. Even the PS2 God of War's only sold about 4 million each, the best selling Dynasty Warriors game only sold 4 million and it had the BotW prequel hype behind it.

Ik it's tradition that action games don't sell well, but it doesn't make me feel better knowing that. If anything, it makes me feel even more depressed since a lot of these games produce high-quality gameplay experiences.

Sure, but they are typically short and budgeted well enough that the don't need to sell well to be profitable The plus side with genres being small successes is that it keeps the corporate from monetizating them to much as they're too busy milking the mega popular genres

They're not failures nor is Bayonetta 2 so I never was implying that the games aren't profitable. But you did mention that they are well-budgeted and short, however they are also replayable and have a deep learning curve that makes playing action games so fun.

Oh i know, I'm not trying to say being short is a bad thing, just pointing out the silver lining that small/miderate successes don't attract the soulless money men, so the people making them are instead devs passionate about the genre AA tends to be where creativity is born

The thing that defines a console is its games specifically the smaller games that fills the gaps in-between AAA releases. Without any small games to enjoy while we wait on something bigger, your console will look like it has no games.

Biggest issue with Bayo 2 is Bayo 1 fans HATE umbran climax as opposed to Bayo 1s more DmC esque approach to combat since it feels like like your actually fighting and more like you're optimizing meter management. Easily the best game in the trilogy tho so who cares

If only 2 and 3 would be on PC and not stuck on Nintendo

This game is just something else. Personally, i'm glad that Nintendo stepped in and saved it from being canceled. I still find myself playing it from time to time. It's just solid slasher

The fact that some fans instead of helping and supporting what Nintendo made it possible to this day yet they can't accept that Nintendo was Bayonetta's franchise savior that even sega didn't care or bother to make it possible on multiplatform which shows how they really don't

The same goes for Astral Chain. Sometimes, some of the greatest games have mediocre sales. A recent example is Death Stranding 2 by Hideo Kojima.

bayonetta 1 is actually just the best action game ever made but then you get to the bike and space harrier sections

Bayonetta 2 unfortunately had the sad fate of being a Wii U exclusive since Nintendo were the only ones who wanted to fund it after being shelved by Sega.

For real. The second game is the first one I ever played when I first got my very first of many switch system. I remember being amazed with the 60 frames and the art style. So much I got the 3rd on launch. Wonder how they run on the switch 2.

Bayo2 is easily my top favorite from the 3 games.

Bayonetta 1 is on every single platform known to man and it only sold 3.66 million units. That's it's lifetime sales... And the game is 17 years old...

Bayonetta the character is far more popular than the game she comes in and that's really depressing. Stellar Blade surpassed it one game, and it's gonna do it again with it's sequel. I like Stellar Blade quite a lot, but that's really sad for Bayonetta💀

@CloudOfCrimson9 majority players that are into this genre, in the same way that Eve or 2B are. Bayo very clearly appeals to a strong female audience, it's just unfortunate that most people in that audience don't play games like this.

It’s so good. I always boot it up and just play the witch trials just because. Game is amazing
