The one-month tariff exemption for Ford, GM, and Stellantis proves the chaos of whiplash policy. These Detroit automakers begged for relief after 25% tariffs hit North American supply chains—only to get a 30-day band-aid. The mission to reshore jobs was right, but constant reversals and exemptions paralyze markets. Capital flees when policy shifts daily. Real leadership stabilizes supply chains, doesn’t auction temporary loopholes. If reshoring is the goal, stop jerking industries between tariffs and exemptions. Either secure American manufacturing or admit it’s just theater.
