🇬🇭 Reports indicate that Fire Service personnel responding to an active fire at Kronum Okada Station were confronted by a civilian who had built a shop too close to a fire hydrant. The individual tried to block them from replenishing water, leading to a physical clash.

Two immediate things to do; 1. Demolish the entire place and make it like a play field within the next 24 hours 2. Make sure he is jailed before the demolishing

The Fire Service must always move with a police escort to avoid this sort of thing from happening. Don't they watch movies or something?🤦‍♀️ @GhPoliceService

Anytime the fire service moves, the police moves but I don’t know why Ghana is different. We should not allow people to be attacking fire fighters

@GhPoliceService the disrespect of Fire Officers in Ghana has reached a crescendo. Please.. liaise with the @gnfsofficial and arrest, take to Court and impose SEVERE PUNISHMENT on such people. Fire fighting is an integral part of National Security and we can’t suffer fools on it.

@Isaac_Acheamp Absolutely disgraceful. Imagine obstructing firefighters during an active blaze because of an illegally sited shop. That’s not bravery, that’s reckless endangerment. Fire hydrants are for saving lives, not negotiating with encroachers. The law must speak, firmly.

This is unacceptable. Anyone who builds close to a fire hydrant or interferes with emergency responders must be dealt with decisively. No excuses.

People like fight too much….😂

We will sell on pavements, bus stops, public green spaces, overhead bridges, containers blocking it all. Evict them and you will hear “we won’t vote for you” Govt can’t beautify or maintain order because citizens use votes to protect indiscipline. Our own worst enemy. 🤦🏾‍♂️ #Ghana

Firefighters need to be respected. Civilians are always their biggest worry when emergencies pop up.

The fire fighters no try at all,touching an innocent soul for saving his business. This is an absurd behavior from them,they should do better next times else I will step in

The civilians should have helped the fire service deal with the guy.

Are fire fighters allowed to arrest? Maybe they should be given the power to…or they should move with the police to conduct some arrest. Especially for people building around hydrants. People who deliberately overload sockets in market places. Illegal electrical connectors.

The guy deserves to be beaten beyond recognition. If not for the incompetence of law enforcement agencies, why should you have a shop around a fire hydrant or probably covering it.

We always like to blame the service but just look at this animal and what he’s done. It’s about time Fire service men are armed or attend to issues with armed escort. There’s been one too many of such silly incidences of obstructions whiles carrying out their work
