As armed conflict between Cambodia and Thailand entered the third day, Cambodia continues to condemn Thai aggression and demand an immediate halt to its action. The Ministry of National Defense on July 26 reported heavy casualties and widespread displacement following the attacks. Ministry Spokesperson Lieutenant-General Maly Socheata confirmed that five Cambodian soldiers were killed and 21 others injured in Oddar Meanchey province. Civilian casualties were even higher, with eight confirmed dead and at least 50 wounded. More than 35,000 civilians have been forced to flee across several provinces.

Students fled their classrooms in fear on the morning of December 8 after Thai military attacks erupted along the border between Cambodia and Thailand. The Ministry of Education has ordered the temporary closure of schools in Oddar Meanchey to ensure the safety of students and teachers. According to the National Defence Ministry, the incident occurred at about 5:04 a.m., when Thai military forces allegedly opened fire on Cambodian units stationed at several locations stretching from the An Ses area in Preah Vihear province to Tamoan Thom in Oddar Meanchey province.

In response, Thailand closed its border with Cambodia because of these attacks. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said the shelling was in response to actions by the Thai army near temples in the provinces of Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, and Ubon Ratchathani.
