They didn’t cancel the day because the work was done. They canceled it because a vote showed up on the calendar. If the case against Hegseth is weak, you beat it on the floor. If it’s strong, you don’t send the House home a day early and call it civic duty. Cutting the clock after impeachment articles land isn’t leadership. It’s an escape hatch. Congress doesn’t get to declare war by shrug and then skip town when someone asks them to own it.
