Darren Aronofsky has really tested my patience the last few years. I don’t love how much he’s diving into AI-filmmaking & I wish he returned to films like Black Swan. I’m not positive if Black Swan is Darren’s best film but it’s the one that connected with me most, especially as a life-long violinist who loves Tchaikovsky's music. It’s unquestionably the height of Natalie Portman’s career as well. Wish Aronofsky returned to more films like this one.

This man gives a great speech about what it’s like to live with a disability that makes getting around difficult. Instead of feeling sorry for himself, he’s out there living his best life even though he needs aid to move. I’m not sure what it’s called—I’ve never seen feet like that before—but it sure doesn’t stop him. I respect people like this so much!

Rewatching The Outsiders always takes me back to vivid memories of 7th grade- it’s such a time machine in the best way imaginable. I know this movie comes with flaws & it’s not Coppola’s best work, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a younger, more talented cast than this film.

The Bodyguard is a film I’ve seen a thousand times but still somehow makes me emotional & I’m not ashamed to admit it, damn it. Kevin Costner & Whitney Houston had no business working this well together. Their chemistry defined this film. This is a special movie for many reasons.

Regardless of whether Train Dreams takes home any #Oscars today, this will forever remain a high point of 2025 for me. I really connected with this movie & this story. I’m glad it got a Best Picture nomination. We need more raw films like this- one of ‘25’s best without question.

Amy Adams really hasn’t made many films in the last 5 years or so, which is super disappointing considering she went on a run of films that included The Master, The Fighter, American Hustle & Arrival. I’m hoping it’s just a matter of time until she’s back making films like this.
